Ford V8 Engine

Above is a list of the items that keep me busy in the winter. Unfortunately, here in balmy Buffalo we spend most of the year with our Hot Rods laid up. I am one of the fortunate who have a nice place to store it. It spends the whole winter inside one of our Storage buildings. It makes for a nice area to fiddle the entire season. This Jeep has been babied since restored. Along with the enhancements you see above I also change the oil, filter and plugs every Spring. Is that really needed with the Mileage I put on? No way, but why not?
I purchased the Jeep in August of 1997. It already had the small block Ford in it but was just sitting in outside storage here for years abandoned. Loved it at first sight. I tracked down the owner and made him an offer after I changed the oil, put a new battery in and fired it up. It just purred. I put in my garage until about 2000. That's when my father in law gave me a nice place to work on it.
At that time it received a "boat mechanic" complete restore. Pulled the motor and tore it down. Degreased it and painted with POR-15 engine enamel (Yellow). Engine and heads were in great shape just got rid of the two barrel intake and replaced it an aluminum Four barrel. Tossed the two barrel carb and replaced with a Four as well. New cap, rotor, Moon Eyes Plug wires (moon eyes is in my Hot Rod blood), Moon fuel pressure gauge under the hood, put some chrome Fenderwell headers on, plugs, rebuilt starter, and alternator, Put on a Polished aluminum high volume water pump, new clutch, painted engine compartment with Por-15 (Black) and dropped it back in. Also added under the hood a Four core Ford Mustang radiator to help keep it cool and a large fan shroud to help keep this beast cool.
Painted it here at our shop. It is not a paint booth. Looks really nice from about two feet away. Not so hot when you are closer. My comment was is always "it's a jeep!". You are not going to win clutch artist with the paint job but it great for local shows and cruise nights.
Underneath I replaced all four shocks with Superlift brand shocks. Nothing fancy because this is my hot Rod and WILL, and NEVER DID, SEE DIRT. Beefed up the stance by adding an aggressive tread 32" tire with some polished wheels. Did some precautionary things like U-joints, re-sealed front and rear Transfer cases, replaced any corroded brake lines, and inspected brakes. Put on Circle Track Moroso Spiral Mufflers. They do not do much so it's loud. Could probably use some kind of baffle. I tried a steel wool and it sounded great but dissolves. Was definitely on my to do list this winter.
All the electrical was ugly so I tore it all out and replaced it with a new complete Hot Rod wiring kit. Just easier to start fresh in my eyes. All new moon gauges. New modern style halogen headlights, LED marker lights, and LED tail lights. Nice stainless twin horn.
Inside, there isn't much to it. Started off with tall seats with five point harnesses but they just did not look right it little CJ-2A. I replaced them with a Low back Black leather Trailmax seat and it made a big difference. Much better. New steering wheel and carpet throughout finished it off.
Not a perfect little Hot Rod but a new owner can do a lot or a little tinkering and make it what you like. Unfortunately I only put 464 miles on it in the four years since my restore. I am just not using it. No top for it so it was my sunny day driver. I do not have a garage at home so if there was any threat of rain I would not drive it home as it was always inside at work.
Jeep is being sold as is. It is a 1947 and if you want reliable transportation to work, buy a different car. If you are shopping for an off road beast, buy a newer jeep. This CJ has four wheel drive and will climb a wall but I can say that is not why I built it. If you plan on using it for off road, don't tell me because I will not sell it to you.
Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements, although I would be happy to help in anyway. A $500 deposit is to be paid within 48 hours of auction closing. Payment is due in full within seven days. Please ask all questions before bidding. The Jeep is as Described. The highest bidder is the buyer.
